The Leathernecks Motorcycle Club War Eagles Chapter Charity ride donates $900 to DAV Van Pool Program.

Menomonie, WI - September 15, 2011 - The War Eagles chapter of the Leathernecks Motorcycle Club (MC) donated $900 to the State Disabled American Veterans (DAV) van pool program from proceeds of their charity ride in May.  The charity ride took place on May 14, 2011 where riders from the area and as far as Duluth rode in to support raising funds for the DAV van pool program.  While numbers were expected to be in the hundreds of riders, there were approximately 50 riders for the event.  The weather might have had a little to do with the decline in numbers.  It was 43 degrees and raining throughout the day making the ride a cold and wet experience.  “The veterans that use this van pool have certainly endured weather worse than this supporting our freedom; these riders here today have proven their dedication to give back to those that have supported America” commented Jason Coop, chapter Vice President.

Before a check could be presented to the Menomonie DAV, the doors closed for business.  Working with the State DAV, Coop was able to secure commitment to funding the van pool program in our part of the state.  In a letter from the DAV, Kenneth Kuehnl writes “Our program of assistance provides badly needed transportation to many veterans throughout the state.  The monies you have provided will be used immediately to benefit those, who for a variety of reasons are unable to drive themselves.  The dollars will be used to fund the van/vans which transport veterans to hospital and doctor visits in your part of the state.”

This is great news for veterans in our area who depend on this critical service.  The Leathernecks MC –War Eagles chapter would like to thank the public who came out in support of this ride under less than favorable weather conditions.
